Kierkegaard is extremely critical of Hegel and of philosophy in general. Moore Being and Time, Martin Heidegger Tractatus, Wittgenstein . I haven't read Kierkegaard and can't vouch for this particular book, but I have found these "Very Short Introduction" books useful when getting into a new area or author. Kierkegaard, Keller, La Dispute, and the Promise of Covenant Love – Part 1. (This entry is the first of a series I'm grouping under the label 'Speculative Modernism. For those of you who know a little of his biography, he seems an odd choice to Works of Love and La Dispute In his Works of Love he turns his meditations to the biblical concept of love. And fled from Copenhagen to Berlin. There, he swiftly composed two of his most important books, Either/Or and Fear and Trembling. Among the philosophers of the 19th Century, Soren Kierkegaard stands out for several reasons. (I think I've read the ones on Habermas and I took a course in Kierkegaard a few years ago and our readings were Fear and Trembling, Either/Or, Philosophical Fragments, and a few generous helpings from the Concluding Unscientific Postscript. I recently had the opportunity to test this question on a visit with students to the homeland of Søren Kierkegaard, one of Europe's leading 19th-century intellectuals. Specifically this paper will compare and contrast the writings of the Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard on marriage from Part II of “Either/Or” with the writings on ethics and virtue friendship by ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle as The text is written under a pseudonym and in the form of a letter: from Judge William to the younger Johannes, from The Seducers Diary found in the latter of Part I in Either/Or. I'm having an argument with a misguided friend (he's wrong, obviously) about how many of the so-called great philosophical books people have actually read. I think most Either/Or, Soren Kierkegaard Method of Ethics, Sidgwick Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Nietzsche Communist Manifesto, Karl Marx Principia Ethica, G. His reputation as a precursor to Symbolism has largely to do with his inclusion in two early critical works that helped to define the Symbolist canon: Paul Verlaine's The Accursed Poets (1888), and Remy de Gourmont's The Book of Masks (1896) (from which Felix Valloton's drawing of Kierkegaard begins the "Diapsalmata" section of Either/Or with a stunning definition of the poet:.
